General Purpose Drive

Invertek Optidrive E3 Single Phase Variable Frequency Drives

The Optidrive E3 Single Phase range is designed for applications where single phase power is available and variable speed motor control is required. These drives provide a practical solution for equipment that needs controlled acceleration, deceleration, and motor speed adjustment without a three phase supply.

Browse compatible Optidrive E3 Single Phase models by horsepower, kilowatt rating, voltage, enclosure type, and application requirements. Piedmont Technical Sales is an authorized Invertek distributor and can help confirm the correct drive for your motor and power supply.

OptiDrive E3 Single Phase Options & Accessories

Every option listed below is compatible with the OptiDrive E3 Single Phase drive family. Electrical accessories such as filters, chokes and brake resistors are matched by frame size and current rating — confirm the correct part for your specific drive on each product page.

Braking Resistors

About Invertek Optidrive E3 Single Phase Drives

The Invertek Optidrive E3 Single Phase range is designed for applications that require variable speed control of compatible single phase motors. These drives are intended for PSC, or Permanent Split Capacitor, and shaded-pole single phase induction motors where a three phase supply or three phase motor conversion is not practical.

The E3 Single Phase range is especially useful for lower-power fan, blower, pump, and airflow applications where high starting torque is not the main requirement. The brochure identifies typical uses such as fans, blowers, centrifugal pumps, fume extractors, and air flow controllers, making this collection most relevant for simple speed control and energy-saving retrofits on supported single phase motor applications.

Key Optidrive E3 Single Phase Capabilities

  • Designed for PSC and shaded-pole single phase motors.
  • Available for 110–115V and 200–240V single phase input ranges, depending on model.
  • Supports output ratings up to 1.1 kW / 1.5 HP for single phase motor applications.
  • Uses a dedicated single phase motor control strategy for reliable starting and operation.
  • Provides 150% overload capacity for 60 seconds, with short-duration overload capability for starting conditions.
  • Available in IP20 and IP66 enclosure options.
  • Includes built-in PI control, EMC filter options, and brake chopper functionality on supported models.
  • Includes Modbus RTU and CANopen communication capability as standard.

Single Phase Motor Starting and Application Fit

Optidrive E3 Single Phase models use a special boost phase to support reliable starting of compatible single phase motors. During startup, the drive ramps motor voltage while maintaining a fixed starting frequency, then transitions the motor to the required operating point. This approach is designed for applications where controlled speed adjustment is needed but high starting torque is not required.

Common use cases include simple airflow control, pump control in swimming pools and spas, fume extraction, centrifugal pumps, blowers, and similar light-duty single phase motor applications. For applications requiring high starting torque, frequent heavy starts, or precise torque control, a three phase motor and standard Optidrive E3 or Optidrive P2 may be a better fit.

Choosing the Correct E3 Single Phase Model

When selecting an Optidrive E3 Single Phase drive, confirm the motor type first. These drives are intended for compatible PSC and shaded-pole single phase motors, not universal compatibility with every single phase motor design. Also confirm input voltage, motor current, enclosure type, EMC filter requirement, and whether the installation requires an IP20 panel-mounted drive or an IP66 enclosed model.
